Welcome to all students, staff, and visitors to the sandbar.  

We’re crab-solutley” thrilled to have you with us!  We have a jam-packed list of announcements for you today.

     **GENERAL**

Student IDs – 

You must have a student ID to enter campus.

Remember to have you ID worn around your neck or clipped to the top of your shirt, all day, every day.  

It must be visible, not under your shirt or the bottom of your shirt. 

Students without IDs are asked to report to the activity’s office located in guidance to acquire an ID. 

IDs are for campus safety and ALL students are required to have a 2024-2025 School ID on their person daily while on campus.  Replacement IDs are $5.

Every student will need to bring a fully charged laptop to school this year.  Forms can be found in the media center and on SHS website.  Forms must be signed by your parent/guardian and with their driver’s license number listed.  You can check a laptop out in media center during lunch.

Here is your important 2024 Homecoming Planning

  • Homecoming Court nomination forms due September 16 -20th. Forms are in room 5-105 or 6-105.
  • Homecoming Dance tickets go on sale September 25 – October 2 in rooms 5-105 or 6-105
  • Homecoming Dance –Saturday, October 5, 2025, in the gym . 
  • Make sure you are adhering to the deadlines if you are interested in being on Homecoming Court!
  • Dress Up Days are coming soon!

Junior and Seniors: if you are bringing a non-Seabreeze guest to homecoming, you can pick up your guest form in student resources starting today.  You can only pick up the form between classes, and lunch. No other time. Forms will not be held or taken if you do not have it filled out, signed and photo ID attached.

The deadline to return completed and signed form with photo ID is Friday Sept. 27 by 1pm 

NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE even if you are absent

School Way Café will serve meals (breakfast and lunch) to all students at no charge.

   ***SENIORS****

First senior meeting of the year, Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 6 pm.  Parents/family/guardian and students are encouraged to attend. We will go over all things senior, dates, events, costs, expectations, etc. In addition to after the meeting, Ms. Villafane will go over how to apply to the top colleges in Florida. 

You do not want to miss it. 

 

  *** Scholarship Information***

The 2025 Women in Aviation International (WAI) scholarship program is officially open, and students can review dozens of scholarships at www.WAI.org/scholarshipsCurrently, there are 59 scholarships provided by 41 funders for flight training, engineering, maintenance, dispatch, and general career advancement for individuals in all stages of life.  Applicants are encouraged to apply for up to three (3) scholarships per year and applicants MUST be a MEMBER of Women in Aviation International (national chapter) by October 1, 2024, in order to be eligible for an award.  We also have a Women in Aviation chapter in Daytona Beach, and chapter membership is strongly encouraged, as well.  The deadline to apply for all scholarships is October 11, 2024.

  ** SPORTS**

JV FOOTBALL takes on Mainland tonight at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex 7pm.  


Volleyball plays Menendez High School tonight at 6pm at home. 

 

Congratulations to our boys' golf team for their win yesterday over Mainland Highschool. Junior Ethan McBroom took medalist honors shooting a 44. Other Sandcrabs contributing in the win were Carter Crafton, JT Gilbert, Ben Upchurch and Derek Bairstow

 

Congratulations to the Girls and Boys Swim Team for a dominating win over University High School in their swim meet at the Ormond YMCA Wednesday September 11th. The Girls team won Seabreeze 119 versus University High Schools 43 points and the Boys team won 98 points versus 72 points for a total team win 217 points vs 112 points for University High School.  The girls team won 11 out of 11 events in the meet. The girl’s team was led by wins in the 200 Medley relay and the 400 Free relay by Eppie Kohaney, Ashlyn Blakley, Noelle Dragstedts, Larissa Eby and Boden Beck, and in the 200 free relay by Maren Beck, Lucy Kimble, Addie Smurden and Laurel Carson. The individual events were won by Addie Smurden, Alexis O'keefe, Mackenzie O'keefe, Melody Hefner and Noelle Dragstedts. 

The Boys team won 10 out of 11 events.  The boys team was led by wins in the relay events of  200  Medley relay of Cole Conlan, Kai McMeeking, Carter Eby and Arthur Simpson. The 200 Free relay of Nate Langford, Stephen Coltharp, Grayson Allen and Tyler Smith, the 400 Free relay of Tyler Smith, Stephen Coltharp, Grayson Allen and Cole Conlan. The individual events were won by Tyler Smith, Kai McMeeking, Carter Eby, and Cole Conlan.

The next scheduled meet dual meet is scheduled for Wednesday September 18th against Matanzas High School at the Ormond YMCA at 4:30pm, all are welcome to come cheer on the Seabreeze Swim Team - good luck swimmers!!

 

 

**CLUB/ORGANIZATIONS**

Creative Collective is Meeting today at lunch in room 5-105

 

Multicultural Club there will be an interest meeting  today  in room 8-001. Will meet at the building 8 at door at 12:15. See you there!

 

SASS club meets today in the large conference room.

**Volunteer Opportunities**

The Ormond Beach Live Original Music & Art Festival is looking for volunteers for their event on Saturday, September 28, 2024
Saturday Sept. 28th 2024 at the Casements/Rockefeller Gardens, Ormond Beach, FL 

All volunteers will get one free meal and drink for every 4 hour shift worked.  Water/Soda will be provided throughout the duration of the event.

Gina Cruz with Realty Pros Assured is looking for people who can volunteer a community event movie night at the Rockefeller Gardens in Ormond Beach on October 4, 2024 

They need someone to face paint from 6- 9 pm. Arrival time of 5:30 to help set the area. You can text or call Gina at 386-235-2386. Or email her at events@realtyprosassured.com

You can earn volunteer hours by participating in this community event.

 

Grace Lutheran Church is looking for volunteers to help unload their pumpkin truck for their upcoming fall activities.  Saturday, October 5, 2024, 3pm.  Call Ellie at 386-871-6187 for any questions.  You can earn volunteer hours for this community service opportunity. 

 

The West Volusia Kennel Club is looking for volunteers to help with our yearly all-breed dog show!   September 20, 21, and 22, 2024 6:30am to 6:30pm (Shifts) Volusia County Fairgrounds Email SeafieldCollies@gmail.comfor more information and to sign up! Lunch and drinks and a t-shirt will be provided
