Florida legislation (6A-1.094124) requires that all students, grades 6th -12th, receive instruction in mental health, child trafficking prevention, and substance abuse. In Volusia County schools, students will receive this instruction through a developmentally appropriate lesson within their class day. Lesson topics will include the following:
High School – Introduction to Mental Health, Coping Skills, Signs of Mental Illness, Seeking Help, and Safety & Substance Abuse
At Seabreeze High School, lessons will be delivered in the classroom by your child’s teacher in 4th period on March 20th, 5th period on March 27th, 6th period on April 3rd, 2nd period on April 10th, and 3rd period on April 17th.
Mental Health counselors and school counselors will be made available for any students who may be triggered or need to debrief about any of the material.

Daytona State College Free Math SAT Prep Classes - Spring 2023
The classes will be held on the Main Campus of Daytona State College in Building 600, Room 209.
These classes are free to all local area high school students.
Continental breakfast will be available at the start of the classes for students, generously provided by the Omicron Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

We are pleased to announce that Volusia County Schools and Volusia United Educators have reached an agreement to make up instructional time lost due to Hurricane Nicole. A total of 10 hours of instruction was lost. The instructional time will be made up utilizing 11 consecutive Early Release Wednesdays beginning on January 11, 2023.
The following dates will now be regular school hours for students:
- January 11, 18, and 25
- February 1, 8, 15, and 22
- March 1, 8, and 22
In order to mitigate the teacher planning time lost as a result of utilizing Early Release Wednesdays, the following meeting requirements have been adjusted:
January 11, January 25, February 22, and March 22 Early Release Professional Learning sessions have been canceled.
PLC meetings scheduled for the weeks of January 18, February 15, and March 1 will be canceled to allow teachers to have individual planning time.
The weeks of February 1 and March 8 were previously designated block-out dates for meetings.
February 8th was previously identified as a Non-Early Release Wednesday.
The Early Release Wednesday schedule will resume on March 29th.
