Requirements for the Seabreeze High School Website

In order to represent Seabreeze High School positively,
students should use these standards when designing pages for the Seabreeze High School Website.
  1. The Seabreeze High School website needs to maintain a professional look, because this is our image for colleges and universities looking to recruit students. To keep our website professional absolutly no:

    1. No flashing images, or distracting images.
    2. No inappropriate content.
    3. No WordArt from Microsoft Word or Frontpage, as they downgrade the professionalism of the website.
    4. No hit counters. We do not need these items because they show either how pages may not be that active. Even if this is so, we want others to believe our website is active, without misleading counters.
    5. No layered information, and information (text, images, etc.) not contained in a table.
    6. No animated horizontal rules. We like to keep the website clean cut, and this can distract from the content you are trying to convey.
    7. No transitions between pages. These are unnecessary, and distract most users.
    8. No animation of text, such as flying in text. This takes to long for the information to displayed to the user. Marquees are allowed though because they are a good way of communicating information, but do not use them if they are not necessary. Plain text is always easier to read.
    9. No multi-colored text, such as Seabreeze. This looks very childish.

  2. In order to keep unity between our website, we have set a requirements for all websites:

    1. Background for pages may not contain images, only as a gradient, or solid color.
    2. All content must be put in a table 800 pixels wide. This table may be aligned in any fashion.
    3. Color schemes for any pages must be limited to 5 colors. We do not want an array of colors on each page.
    4. Related pages (example: the National Honor Society website) must contain the same layout for all pages in that relationship.
    5. Good contrast must be shown between the background and the text. We do not want the page to be hard to read, because users will not read the website.
    6. All graphics must be under 1 MB per image. No page can contain more than 25 images.
    7. Do not use Frontpage's Navigation bars, they do not work when we upload the website to Seabreeze's Server. You must make your own buttons.
    8. Unless there is a need for a form, do not use forms on the webpages, as users cannot submit them to anywhere unless they are set after upload to the Seabreeze Server. Registration forms for sports and other activities must be picked up from the coach or sponsor.

If you would like to create a form and have it available for download, create it in Word the go to https://www.media-convert.com/ and convert it to a PDF file, which you will need saved in your Web, and put a link to that file in your website. PDF's make sure that all users can view the Document.

  3. To protect the individuals attending Seabreeze High School, Volusia County School Board has set a strict policy of displaying images of students online. You must:

    1. Only use names as Full First Name, Last Initial (example: Bob W.) on all pages.
    2. Images should not be direct pictures of students where they could be identified.
      Avoid these images if possible.
    3. Photos of students in the distance where it is not a direct photo of them are preferred.
