Mr. O'Hearn is one of the few Marine Science/Physical Science teachers at this school. Marine Science is generally a class for juniors, but don't let that stop you from taking it, if you are really interested. Hopefully this website will help prepare you for Marine Science, whether it be doing a Web Quest, dissecting sharks, or reading articles, this website will give you a little insight on what you will be doing in Marine Science. | Students will have a general understanding of: the nature of science, marine scientists at work, the history of exploring the ocean, geology of the ocean, marine shorelines, tides, waves, currents, Earth's surface and interior, marine ecology, microscopic life, plankton, marine algae and plants, marine invertebrates and vertebrates, and interactions between science, technology, and humanity. |

| Make-up policy |
| Student have five days to make up missed work due to excused absence. Late assignments will lose 25% each day late. Extra help may be scheduled by appointment. Copied assignments (cheating) will be given no credit. Taking class notes is encouraged, as tests are open note (closed book). Grades are posted at least weekly. It is your responsibility to keep track of your assignments and grade. |
