The Ballroom Dance Club was established In the 2005 - 2006 school year at Seabreeze High School. The club is known throughout the city, and performs several times a school year. Seabreeze is one of the only schools that hosts a ballroom dancing club.
The five ballroom dances: Modern Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot and Quickstep, are danced the world over both socially and in DanceSport Competition. The word ballroom denotes a room where the balls may be held. Balls were important social events in the days before radio and television (as in "having a ball"). The word "ball" derives from the Latin "ballare" meaning "to dance."
