Web Design 1 Course Outline

 

Course:  Web Design I                                                                                                                                         Teacher:  Mrs. Guidotti,

Semester: 1st & 3rd Quarter                                                                                                                          Credit:  Elective 1

I.  Introduction: (Major Concepts/Contents)

The Internet and World Wide Web (WWW) have become popular a resources for research, communication, advertising and entertainment.  The student will learn the basics of using the WWW, basic HTML and will progress through the processes of analysis, design, development and implementation of several complete Web sites using the Microsoft FrontPage XP HTML editor

 II.              Description of the Course Content:  Introduction to the WWW, Web Programming and HTML, layout and structure of Web sites, hyperlinks, multimedia, forms, frames, Intranets, testing, maintenance, databases and inserting script in HTML and JAVA pages on Web sites.  Completion of BST, Web 1, and Web 2 will lead to possible acquisition of Bright Futures Scholarship.  Call Mrs. Guidotti or Mrs. Coy at 258-4674 Ext.  54654 for further information.

 III.           Materials Students are expected to supply: 

Required Text and Materials:  * Microsoft FrontPage XP provided by teacher

·         * 3-ring folder or binder  50 pt. bonus  Note:  - Fee will pay for 3½" high density HD disks, and CD’s 

·         Each student will create a true web site for a sport, a club, a teacher, or a local business which will be published.

IV.               District Grading Scale: 

90 – 100 = A

80-89         = B

70-79         = C

60-69         = D

Below 60 = F

 Grading:

A review of tables, and excel & usage on Web Pages         300

There will be 3 quizzes & 3 vocab tests @ 100 points each           600

 Required student Work:

1.  Practical Application: Practical application consists of being present in class,  being on time and staying the entire block.   This course differs from other classes in the fact that it is a hands-on, step-by-step Project-driven course.  In order to master the material you should keep up with all of the work.

2.  Participate in class--Keep work station clean, no outside disks, put disks away each day

3.  Read each chapter in text as assigned--quizzes are based on text, and vocabulary

4.  Come prepared--pen, folders, a clear mind, and a positive attitude!

5. You must complete & obtain a copy of Permission to Use the Internet form from media with required signatures and have I.D. properly stamped and display I.D. at computer during class. 

6.  By being a member of any business class, you have earned the opportunity to be a member of the Professional Business Association.  This is a new national organization and it is a privilege to belong to this organization.

7.  All makeup work must be completed within 5 days after student's return from absence. Student should arrange makeup time & date with teacher.  Always sign in for credit.
