Meeting called to order by President Stacy Ladas @ 6:30 PM.
Minutes were approved and passed from previous meeting.
Fundraiser: Daytona 500 raised $722.50 and thank you to the 8 people
that volunteered.
Thank you to Linda Rodriguez for heading this event. Linda asked
Speedway if we could
possibly work at the July 4th race? They said they would send her
material on this event.
Please let Mrs. Bigham know if anyone has any interest in working this
race.
Any fundraiser ideas? Please let us know as we need to find a way to
replace the loss of
speedway event? Unfortunally the DVD stuffing we had discussed did not
work out in addition
to the Daytona 500 race. Could not find a location to do this in such a
short amount of time.
Centennial celebration: This will take place on Saturday, April 26th.
The academy will do
the food and beverage. We need at least 2 large grills and will cook
primarily hamburgers
and hotdogs. Asked if we want parents to take control over this booth?
We would work from
10 am to 3 pm. This is the 100 year alumni celebration and expect over
1,000 people to attend.
This would be a great opportunity to replenish our funds for SCAB.
There are a number of seniors that have hours required but do not have
all of the qualifications
needed which is working at a fundraiser to be qualified for the
scholarship money. Currently there
are only 5 seniors that have met all requirements.
Mrs. Bighman has contact at Publix for some free donations of hamburger
and hotdog buns. The
academy can do really whatever we want. We can add chips, nachos, candy
anything we feel will
make money as we will be the only source of food at the celebration.
Mrs. Bigham wants only
parents to grill so parent participation is really needed. We will have
to buy all the meat and
profits will go to the SCAB. We need senior participation first but
parents are desperately needed.
Mrs. Bigham will have a sign up sheet at school to see if we have enough
volunteers. We will have
most likely 2 shifts: 8-12 and 12-4 to help set up with set up and clean
up.
2 Dudes Catering hoping to be there to help with celebration. Please
remember to submit some
recipes to recipe book we will be selling at this celebration.
Banquet: Lori Ryan is in charge. Usually we have at Oceanside Country
Club.
DBCC said we could have at their new Hospitality facility which is very
exciting. They usually like to
have events on Friday evenings. Motion set and approved to have at DBCC
this year.
We agreed upon having on May 9th and we will check and confirm this date
with DBCC.
If that is not okay, will have on May 16th.
Pasta for Pennies: Our sophomores did an excellent job with this
fundraiser. The class had 47 students
and for every $5.00 they received 1 hour of service. Raised almost
$850.00 and won 2nd place. Mr. Stallers
class raised a lot of money from the kids and they deserved 1st place.
Our class will get a free pizza lunch for
their ambitions and drive. Congratulations! Largest amount of money that
SHS has ever earned for this cause.
SAC: Linda Rodriguez reported meeting notes. 2/11 Mr. Huth talked about
budget cuts. 3/10 discussed
centennial celebration, budget cuts, freshman athletics, 7 periods
(going to do a 2 day experiment to see how
this goes), we qualified for portables, 2 volunteers for volunteer of
year, senior banquet which the qualification
is 3.5 GPA and those seniors will be notified to attend the award
banquet.
Budget cuts: 2009-2010 Holly Hill Middle School will possibly close. We
will get the email so you can write your
state legislative and state your complaint.
Treasure Report: $3,925.82
Before you leave the meeting tonight, try and check the other room and
see what the competition team is working
on. We will be going to competition later this month.
Friday is the cut off date for academy applications. Mrs. Bigham has
gotten a lot of nice comments about our students
when the cater. Students always smile and seem excited about the job
they are doing. Mrs. Bigham said you may
have heard from your child that "I am" hard on them, well she wants them
to be able to be on their own and get
a job.
Ending statement was a request to see if anyone would be willing to
chair the centennial celebration and we will
probably have to have another meeting in-between to discuss this
fundraiser. Thank you to Eileen Leykamm and
Kim Daub who volunteered.
Next Meeting 4/8/08 @ 6:30 PM.
Make sure to sign in to assure credit for your child.
Meeting adjourned 7:00 PM.
Sincerely,
Denice Schilsky

6:30 PM
Meeting called to order by President Stacy Ladas.
Minutes approved and passed from last meeting.
Fundraiser Changes: Lead by Linda Rodriguez
Speedway no longer needs help on Saturday and only needs 11 servers
for Sunday. Speedway has opened jobs to people that need the money
to make ends meet for their families and themselves.
The 11 people that volunteered please meet afterwards to discuss event.
Linda will come at 6:00 am Sunday to sign us in and make sure we are
properly signed up. Seniors or parents 18 or older, please see Linda if
you
are available to work on Sunday.
We are now looking for senior parent fundraisers. Please think about
some
different options. We will not know if the speedway fundraiser will be
available
to us next year or not. No guarantee for future years.
Stacy Ladas company is looking for people to stuff DVD's for the
speedway
during the week of February 11 - 15. They will need 20 people a day, 5
days that week at
$10.00 per hour. It will be Monday - Friday and are looking for a
warehouse to do this at.
Any seniors that need hours this would be a great opportunity. They do
need an 8 hour
commitment per day. Sign up sheet available to fill out. No location
set, hopefully
will be somewhere close to Speedway.
Scholarship: It has been tradition to give our seniors that have met all
the requirements
$200 - $400 at the end of year banquet.
Banquet: This year our silent auction will not be held live during the
banquet. This
takes too much time. We will talk to seniors about donations.
New Business: Mrs. Bigham has received alot of compliments about the 9th
grade class.
1st block is made up mostly of 10th graders and we have 50 students now.
This
class has fundraiser Pasta for Pennies.
We will be selling our alumni cookbook during the centennial celebration
on 4/26.
We also will be selling hamburgers & hotdogs.
Orlando competition practice today 2/5. Mrs. Bigham will be going to
Miami
Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Knowledge Bowl competition will be March 25 @ the Orange City convention
center in Orlando.
Scrapbook being made and we are asking seniors to please bring picture
into
class.
Next meeting 3/11/08 @ 6:30
PM.
Meeting adjourned @ 6:48 PM.
