Prentice Hall Mathematics Algebra Plus Workbook

Expectations: Students are expected to come to class ready to learn. They must raise their hand, and wait to be called on before speaking. I expect all students to be on time, have all material, be ready to work, respect others, stay on task, stay in your seat, and have a POSITIVE attitude.

Materials and Assignments: All students will be issued a textbook and workbook that they are required to bring to class daily. Students must also bring a one inch, 3-ring binder with tabs, paper (line and graph), calculator, highlighter, and several #2 pencils. All assignments must be done using a #2 PENCIL. Any assignment turned in not in pencil will receive a deduction at the teacher's discretion. Missing assignments due to an excused absence must be turned in within five (5) school days. No late assignments will be accepted.

Tardies: Students are expected to be in their seat working on the warm-up when the bell rings. Late arrivals and students walking around in the classroom will be considered tardy. Tardies will be handled as indicated in the Student Code of Conduct. Being late to class will definitely affect a student's grade. If tardy (unexcused), will not be able to take the daily quiz, and will not receive extra time for any test that has already begun.

Daily Quiz: Students will be administered a six question daily quiz at the start of each class Monday - Thursday. This quiz will be in direct correlation with the FCAT. They will receive a grade every two weeks for this quiz.

Vocabulary & Journal: Each student shall maintain a Vocabulary sheet that will show all the vocabulary words, and their definitions for each section. A Journal sheet will be used to record homework, and notes for each chapter. The Journal sheet may be used on the Chapter Tests.

Homework: Homework assignments will be approximately 10 to 20 problems a night from the workbook, and occasionally the textbook. The selected problems are designed to reinforce what was covered in the class. Homework problems can be done in the workbook, and if necessary additional paper may be inserted. Homework will be checked daily, and then discussed. I do not grade homework, but check it to make sure the student is attempting the assignments.

Testing Procedures: Students are expected to do their own work. Students that are talking, cheating, copying another student's paper will receive a zero grade for that test or assignment. Any student who supplies work to be copied will also receive a zero.
