Course Description: Algebra 1A taken in sequence with other designated mathematics courses

will enable students to meet the state standards in the area of mathematics education.

Math Strands: Number Sense, Concepts and Operations, Measurement, Geometry, Spatial

Sense, Algebraic Thinking, Data Analysis, and Probability.

Expectations:

A) Students are expected to: Be Prompt, Be Prepared, Be Polite, Be Professional, and Be Positive. Students are expected to be in their seat working on the warm-up when the bell rings. Tardy students (including those not in their seats) will receive a zero for the warm-up, and will not receive extra time for any test that has already begun.

B) The Student Code of Conduct and school rules will be enforced. Cheating and copying other students work will not be tolerated, and will result in zeroes for all students involved.

C) Absences: It is your responsibility to find out what assignments, quizzes, or tests you have missed, what is the deadline for the assignments and complete them by that deadline. If you have an excused absence you will have one day for each day you are absent plus an extra day. This time period includes weekends and holidays.

D) Late Work: Late work will be accepted at the teacher’s discretion, and the maximum grade will be 50%.

E) Required materials: The following items must be brought to class daily: Textbook, workbook, notebook, pencil and pen, paper, calculator, and planner.

Chapter Requirements:

We will do Chapters 1-6 in order. The following items must be competed for each chapter: Chapter Test, two Checkpoint Quizzes, Diagnosis Readiness, Graphic Organizer, and a Vocabulary test. In addition both class work and homework will be assigned for each section. All these assignments are listed in the attached student guide.
