Florida’s Ready to Work Credential Program Overview

Florida employers need and search for dependable, skilled workers.  Florida’s Ready to Work Credential Program will help find and prepare employees to fill that need.  The Florida Ready to Work Credential Program is a certification process for On Job Training (OJT) students.  Businesses and industries throughout the state have compiled a series of practical skill requirements and questions that pertain specifically to business and industry.

The program is separated into three categories or “WorkKey” assessments:

  • Reading for Information
  • Applied Mathematics
  • Locating Information

Each assessment is scored on a scale from 3 to 7, with seven being the best.  The higher the score, the greater the student’s ability should be to perform more complex skills.  Obviously, the higher the score, the better the student appears during job interviews.

Upon successful completion of the sessions, the Florida Ready to Work Credential Program will award a certificate to the student who has successfully passed designated assignments. The Florida Ready to Work Credential is awarded in three levels:

  • BRONZE   – minimum score of “3” or more on all three assessments.
  • SILVER     – minimum score of “4” or more on all three assessments.
  • GOLD       – minimum score of “4” or more on all three assessments.

A student who has earned a Ready to Work Credential will be considered equipped with the skills needed to enter the workforce.  A job applicant holding a Florida Ready to Work Credential should have an advantage over another applicant not having a Ready to Work Credential.

As a potential employer, if you would like to be a member of the Ready to Work program and have your name listed on the Ready to Work website as a cooperating business, simply click here and fill out a short informational form.
