Many families do not realize they are eligible for low-cost or free health care coverage through Florida KidCare — the state of Florida’s health insurance program that covers children from birth through 18 years of age. Most families who enroll do not have to pay for the coverage, while many pay only $15-$20 per month. With Florida KidCare, children can have access to doctor visits, immunizations, dental care and hospitalizations.

Educating uninsured families about the health insurance options available to them is key. That’s why Halifax Health — Healthy Communities is hosting the Florida KidCare Enrollment Event and Family Health Fair on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Volusia Mall, 1700 West International Speedway Boulevard in Daytona Beach. In addition to Florida KidCare enrollment, several state and local community organizations will be in attendance at this free event to provide health resource information, immunizations, developmental screenings for children, blood pressure checks, and vision screening. There will also be music, dance, children’s activities and giveaways. And don't forget to visit www.seabreezehigh.org/school-info to learn more about the FRM program (Free/Reduced Meals). It's more than meals, its 2-FREE ACT & 2-FREE SAT tests for qualified students. Check it out today!

If you know of any local families in need of health insurance, please encourage them to attend this free event.  For more information about the Florida KidCare Enrollment Event and Family Health Fair, contact Halifax Health — Healthy Communities at 386.425.7920.
